Burning throat, Discomfort , acidity .

This happens mainly because of Acid reflux.

What Is Acid Reflux?
Acid reflux is a common digestive condition that occurs when the stomach contents, such as acid and other digestive juices, rise into the esophagus.
Some causes of acid reflux can include:
1) Eating certain foods, such as fried or fatty foods, citrus fruits, spicy foods, or garlic and onions
2) Consuming too much alcohol or caffeine
3) Smoking cigarettes
4) Being overweight or obese
5) Eating large meals
6) Laying down soon after eating
7) Wearing tight-fitting clothes around your abdomen

When acid reflux occurs, the esophagus can become irritated and inflamed, causing burning sensations in the chest or throat. This burning sensation is known as heartburn.
Other symptoms of acid reflux include regurgitation of food or sour liquid, nausea, difficulty swallowing, a sore throat, coughing, and hoarseness.

Does Drinking Hot Water Help Acid Reflux?
Drinking hot water can help alleviate symptoms of acid reflux in some ways. A cup of warm/hot water after meals can work wonders .
Here are a few pointers:

1) It helps to relax the sphincter muscle between the stomach and esophagus. This can help reduce acid reflux symptoms by allowing food and acids to move more easily from the stomach to the intestines instead of moving back towards the oesophagus  and mouth .
The hot water washes down all the grease(oil, ghee, butter, sugar)that sticks to it .
The grease also affects the functioning of the Sphincter valve between oesophagus and stomach .Due to the slippery condition the valve does not shut completely , hence leaving room for acid reflux to take place .

2) Hot water can also aid digestion, as it helps break down food more quickly and effectively. This reduces strain on the stomach, which can help prevent acid reflux.

3) Additionally, hot water helps to thin mucus in the airways and esophagus, making it easier for the body to expel excess acid or gas, causing discomfort.

4) Drinking hot water can reduce inflammation in the digestive tract, helping to decrease heartburn and reflux.

5)Drinking, warm water can help the intestines contract to expedite the process of elimination. In addition, drinking warm water activates the digestive tract. Water works as a lubricant or lubricant along the organs of the digestive system and helps hydrate and flush out toxins.

6) Hot water dilates blood vessels in the gut, which helps with digestion. This boost is most notable when hot water is consumed at the beginning of the day. Drinking hot water after a meal emulsifies fats, which also aids digestion.

Tips To Consume Hot Water To Help Relieve Acid Reflux

If you’re suffering from this condition, it’s well worth trying out hot water as a remedy. For optimal results, here are some tips on how to consume hot water:

1) Start with warm water, not boiling. Boiling hot water can burn your esophagus and aggravate acid reflux, so it’s best to start with a comfortably warm temperature to drink.
2) Don’t add anything else to the water. Adding lemon juice or other acidic ingredients like vinegar can increase acidity and worsen acid reflux.
3) Drink slowly and regularly. Sipping hot water throughout the day can help to reduce acid reflux symptoms more effectively than drinking it all at once.
4) Avoid drinking in bed. Lying down with a full stomach can make it easier for the acid to travel up your esophagus, so avoid drinking hot water before sleeping.
5) Practice mindful eating. Eating slowly and avoiding overeating can help to reduce the symptoms of acid reflux, as well as reducing stress levels.

PS.The right way to drink water at all times is to drink it in sips , so that it can turn alkaline with the digestive enzymes present in the mouth .This greatly helps in neutralising stomach acids .

Sip water slowly than guzzling it down at once. Sipping water and allowing it to stay in the mouth and then passing through the food pipe helps the alkaline saliva reach the stomach to neutralise acid levels in the stomach
